The Next Number

So last night my accidental 10 mile walk resulted in a weight loss of 2 pounds meaning that I’m now into the next stone barrier, the next number if you will! I haven’t seen those sort of numbers on the scales for a VERY long time, it was quite a moment. To date I have lost 32 pounds, I still chuckle about the lady who told me she didn’t “believe in weight watchers” For me whether it’s weight watchers, Slimming World or Rosemary Connelly that works for you, it’s far better to follow something like this than a plan where you eat half a grapefruit on a Monday, then a bourbon biscuit on a Tuesday and then only drink water til 3 weeks on Friday.

Overall I’m looking to lose 10 stone, now that number makes me gulp, shake and generally want to find a tub of Ben & Jerrys (preferably the Phish Food variety) to stick my face in and stay there. However that is really not the answer, so I’m breaking it into small manageable chunks – half a stone, a stone, 10% of my body weight etc and to me that helps keep me sane as I actually feel like I’m achieving something.

It is to this end I’ve worked out I’m more like my dog Cyril than I might care to admit. Cyril belongs to me and my sister Lucy and is a crazy bonkers Beagle. Being a beagle he is very intelligent, and we have put a huge effort into training him, which if you’ve met him, you might not realise that. The training is starting to reap some benefits and he responds to treats – just like me! When Cyril sits, he’s given a treat, when he lies down he’s given a treat and when he comes back when you call his name, he gets 2 treats because that’s a bloomin’ miracle!

I have put into place a similar reward system for myself, although I am less keen on bonios. When I reached my 10% goal last week, I treated myself to a couple of sexy vampires – the “True Blood” boxset (I’m an Eric girl)

Today because I got into my next stone bracket, I treated myself to an owl necklace.

I’ve decided that when I’ve lost another half a stone, then I can buy “True Blood” series 5. I’m also putting away a pound (£) for every pound I lose so that when I’ve reached my slinky goal, I can go shopping and buy new clothes.
