Robbie Williams, Weddings & a Guru

So I managed to stay the same this week and for that I blame Robbie Williams! It might seem a tad unfair on Mr Williams, but Lucy and I went to see him in concert on Friday and the choice of healthy food was almost non-existent. It probably didn’t help that we began our day with cocktails. Still the concert was awesome and if you’re going to see Robbie, you wont be disappointed with Robbie or Olly.

We had a slightly weird moment when we met Mrs Williams in the hotel with 2 of their dogs. Being a dog lover (which is weird considering the shenanigans we witness from Cyril on a daily basis!) we started to make a fuss of the dogs before we realised. Mrs Williams was very lovely and really stunningly beautiful, plus her dogs were well behaved! That woman really does have it all – gorgeous superstar husband, good looks and well behaved dogs!

My friend Joe and his fiancĂ©e Marie also went to the gig and he text me the day after to ask me what food choices were available as they’re on diets too ahead of their big day in October. I think they must have been on my mind because I dreamt that Joe asked me to make sure that I got the best man to the wedding on time. In the dream I forgot and Joe ended up shouting at me “one job Trinder, I give you one job” Of course this was just a dream and I’m sure the best man will be more than capable of getting there himself.

As far as I’m aware no special requests have been made of guests, which is good considering an article I’ve just read. It was about an American health and yoga guru (I always wonder how you actually become a guru, can you just start referring to yourself as one, is there an exam you have to take? Or do you receive a "Blue Peter" style badge in the post one day that says "yay you're now a guru") This guru demanded that before her wedding, ALL guests do a 3-week vegan cleanse so that everyone looked and felt their best! All guests also had to wear white, so they looked pure and throughout the 3-day wedding guests would also have to do yoga, horse riding and breathing exercises!

It set me thinking, how far would I go for a friend and their wedding? At the moment I really need to focus myself a bit more on my diet, I feel there’s been one too many treat days and I’m stressing about moving house, so a detox may give me a little boost, just not sure I can do a vegan one. I’m sure if a friend wanted me to wear a particular colour for their wedding then I would, if I had to travel I would or even learn a dance routine, all things I can manage. I wonder how many of their guests genuinely did it or just said they did and spent the 3 weeks sneaking the odd bourbon biscuit and having a cup of coffee? I’m also really clumsy so the idea of having to get on a horse fills me with dread, I have tried horse riding many times throughout my life, as a child (I quit when they mentioned mucking them out) and as an adult (I quit after I fell off in a quite spectacular fashion! Rather than just accepting my fate and falling I clung on to the underside of the horses neck like I was some kind of cowboy stunt rider only to land in a pile of poo. It wasn’t the falling that made me quit, it was the poo) I also think the breathing exercises would give me the giggles!

Call me old fashioned, but to me a wedding is about 2 people who love each other agreeing to spend their lives together, a slightly bonkers aunty hitching her skirt above her knees at the reception to dance to the Macarena and a couple of glasses of wine.

I know Joe and Marie’s wedding will be beautiful and I really hope I haven’t given them any ideas!
In the meantime I am focusing on just how many bonus points i can earn packing and unpacking boxes!
